Project Title:
Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation 2015

Project Description:
Narrative for additional work (8.14.19) - The project will include Rehabilitation of four existing pump stations. Rehabilitation of the Ewing Avenue, Harvest Lane, and Tool & Dye pump stations will include electrical improvements necessary for meeting explosion-proof code, and replacement of internal components, including pumps, pump guide rails, internal piping, valves, and floats. Rehabilitation of the Pheasant Drive Pump Station will consist of electrical improvements necessary for meeting explosion-proof code requirements, replacement of the wet well structure, and replacement of internal components, including pumps, pump guide rails, internal piping, valves, and floats. Cleaning, Video Inspection and Rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer collector lines and manholes in the main section of the system, including but not limited to the areas of Poplar Heights, College Manor, East Office St., Price Ave., North Main St., and College St. Also included is the relocation of sewer collector line on Sunset Lane. This project will also achieve energy efficiency by reducing electricity costs through the reduction of the amount of wastewater pumped to the equalization basins, reduced pumping times and aeration.

Debris and settlement in the lines cause a reduction in capacity. Infiltration and inflows contribute to surcharges and overflows during wet-weather events.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:

7) Areas where Rehab will be taking place upstream of pump stations. The reduction in seen by these pump stations during wet weather will reduce pumping times and electricity costs at those pump stations. 8) Reducing the wet weather flow seen by the wastewater treatment plant will reduce the amount of wastewater pumped to the equalization basins which will also save electricity used during pumping and aeration.

Environmentally innovative projects include those that demonstrate new and/or innovative approaches to delivering services or managing water resources in a more sustainable way. Examples include:
