Project Title:
WCWD - Morgantown Road Area Improvements

Project Description:
This project consists of the design and construction of an elevated storage tank, pump station, approximately 4,300 LF of 8" water main, and a pressure reducing valve. These facilities will be owned and operated by Warren County Water District. The project will also include the replacement of 7,600 LF of 2" and 4" waterline.

The Briggs Hill tank is being replaced because (in order of importance):

a) The tank is too short and does not provide desirable pressure for the homes at the top of the hill.

b) The usable capacity is too low for the expected future growth.

c) The standpipe geometry is not desirable for maintaining the best water quality.

d) The existing tank now needs to be re-painted and that money will be better invested in the new infrastructure.

Security at the new tank site will be achieved with a perimeter fence and a tank ladder that stops approximately 10’ short of the ground elevation.  All distribution system valves and hydrants require special tools to operate properly.  All meter installations include back-flow prevention devices.  The distribution system is continuously monitored with the utility's SCADA system for irregularities.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
