Project Title:
Hodgenville Phase 1a Water System Improvements

Project Description:
The City of Hodgenville proposes to tear down the existing Greensburg Storage Tank which has been out of commission for the past 3 years. The City also plans to construct approximately 1,000 LF of 8-inch water main along Sunset Dr. and Caple St. to replace existing undersized 4-inch lines. The City is also proposing to construct approximately 2,100 LF of 8-inch main and 1,750 LF of 10-inch main to replace undersized mains around the Middle School & High School off of Lincoln Parkway creating a loop around the schools to provide quality and redundancy in an area prone to disruptions. Lastly, the City plans to make improvements to the North side of the system to improve water quality, increase pressure, and equalize flow with the Industrial Tank zone by upgrading the North Tank Booster Pump Station, supplementing approximately 5,200 LF of 6-inch water main with 8-inch water main along Old Elizabethtown Road and once that is complete, decommissioning and demolishing the North Tank.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The 8-inch and 10-inch mains around the High School area and along S. Lincoln Blvd. create a loop in this area and provide better water quality and redundancy to the Middle and High School which are prone to frequent disruptions. The improvements to the North side of the system provides better water quality by allowing the Industrial Tank to turnover more frequently and equalize flow with the North side of the system.

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
