Project Title:
Cast Iron Replacement and Distribution Lines Upgrade

Project Description:
This project consists of replacing cast iron pipe and undersized distribution line that will create a loop to improve water quality and reduce flushing costs with the following components: (1) Replace 1,600 LF of existing 4-inch cast iron pipe with 6-inch SDR21 PVC pipe, beginning at the master meter located at HWY 132/Lakeview Street Intersection, continuing west on HWY132 (West Leiper Street), ending at a flush valve. (2) Replace 1,750 LF of 2-inch PVC line with 4-inch PVC beginning at the same intersection and continuing on Lakeview Street north to HWY 983. This line will tie back into an existing 6-inch PVC distribution line.

This project will improve water quality and replace aging cast iron pipe, along with increasing pressure and reducing disinfection byproducts.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

The lines that will be replaced in this project have consistent breaks, and requires frequent flushing in order to deliver fresh water. The city purchases its water from a supplier, and the $3,000 indicated would come in savings from breaks and flushing.

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
