Project Title:
2021 Rowan Water Inc System Improvements

Project Description:
This project will include the replacement of approximately 6000 LF of 4" problematic PVC water main at the intersection of KY 1274 and KY 519. This area has been slipping, and is in direct need of replacement. Also included is a new pump station on US 60 to replace the aged and problematic existing US 60 station. The US 60 pump station will require additional 12inch PVC discharge piping. The project will also include a new storage facility for equipment to be built at the existing Rowan Water office site.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The KY 1274 water main has to be replaced outside of the existing slip area as ignoring this problem could cause numerous and prolonged water outages to existing customers on KY 519, KY1274, and KY 801. The US 60 pump station is aged and is located behind existing houses, therefore the pump station needs to be moved for better accessibility and replaced with new pumps and appurtenances.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
