Project Title:
Pikeville Water Plant High Service Pumps Improvements

Project Description:
Upgrade existing electrical and install (3) Variable Frequency Drive Units for the high service pumps/motors and purchase/replace (1) pump/motor.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Installation of variable frequency drives and pump/motor replacement would allow for more efficient operations and continuity of adequate water supply within Pikeville's growing system demands. This would allow for increased public health by ensuring optimal flow and production.

These improvements would allow the City of Pikeville to produce more water for regionally connected systems to utilize or continue to utilize older and lower efficient equipment which may not provide additional water for neighboring systems.

Alternate B:

Phase the project after evaluation, install equipment as a phased approach. This alternative would take a much longer period of time to complete than the proposed project thereby prolonging additional water production for growth and neighboring systems.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
