Project Title:
MeCWD - KY 1638 Transmission Main Phase 1A

Project Description:
The Meade Co. Water District is proposing to construct approximately 19,500 l.f. of new 16-in. finished water transmission main near KY Hwy 1638, connecting to a 16-in. main installed as part of Phase1. The new main will follow an existing LG&E electric easement in the Ft. Knox area to tie into a new Hardin Co. Water District No.1 main interconnect near US Hwy 60. This project is a continuation of the MeCWD KY 1638 Phase 1 transmission main to improve water availability and provide redundant coverage in Meade County.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Meade County Water District has reviewed long-term water supply needs and believes demand will exceed available capacity through the current connection with HCWD#1 in Flaherty. This connection supplies all of Meade County Water Districts wholesale water and limits availability in feeding western sections of the system. The project will provide a new connection capable of supporting needed capacity and improve regional supplies.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
