Project Title:
Marion Co. W.D. Riley Water Tank Piping Upgrades

Project Description:
The proposed project will include new piping and control valve arrangement at the existing 218,000 gallon Riley Ground storage tank. The modifications will allow the tank to fill from the overflow elevation (top) and empty from a ground level elevation. This will greatly improve tank turnover and reduce disinfection byproducts.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Maintaining adequate water quality in the northeastern portion of the service area is a persistent challenge. Slow / poor turnover and mixing within the Riley Water Storage Tank has been identified as a significant contributor to this problem. Currently the tank fills and empties from one location near the ground elevation. This results in little to no mixing and water degradation as disinfection byproducts are more prone to develop. Changing the fill elevation will allow for better mixing and reduce dbp's.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
