Project Title:
Sacramento Water Meter Replacement

Project Description:
This project will replace the final 300 water meters for the City of Sacramento. The city has had problems both with water leaks and miscalculations in water bills since most of the meters in the system are 20 years old, or older. The city will replace these aging meters with radio-read meters, and they are currently researching which meters will work best in their city, and work best with the billing system they currently have in place. Approximately 500 new meters have been replaced as of 10/1/2023. Without additional funding this project will take 3 years to complete.

This project will ensure access to water without fear of service interuptions due to leaks and will help the city reduce its unaccounted for water better

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

This project will involve the city replacing 20 plus year old manual read meters with radio read meters which will decrease the city's unaccounted for water, ensure access to drinking water for the customers and reduce the cost to the city for reading meters.

Energy Efficiency:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
