Project Title:
LCWSD Booster Chlorination Station(s) Project

Project Description:
The LCWSD owns and operates a "distribution only" system that supplies potable water service to approximately 3800 customers in Letcher County. The proposed project will include, but not be limited to the installation of three (3) booster chlorination station(s) in the existing distribution system. The stations will be installed on existing lines in the vicinity of the master meter with Knott County on KY HWY 15, the Blackey Tank, and the Deane pump station. The purpose of the booster chlorination station(s) is to insure that required chlorine residual throughout the system is maintained.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The project is the result of difficulties the LCWSD, a "distribution only" system has faced sustaining chlorine residual in the peripheries of the system during hot weather. Maintaining required residual chlorine levels is imperative in providing safe sustainable potable water and minimizing the human health risks that may result in consumption or domestic use of inadequately disinfected water.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
