Project Title:
Fariston Road Area Water System Improvements

Project Description:
The proposed improvements consist of the installation of approximately 7,200 L.F. of 8-inch water line and appurtenances to replace existing aging and undersized 4-inch Asbestos Cement (AC) water lines adjacent to Fariston Road in south-central Laurel County. In addition to the main line replacements, aging service lines and meter settings will also be replaced through this project.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The proposed project will upgrade and/or replace various aging, undersized, and inadequate infrastructure components throughout the distribution system. The improvements will ensure that the system can meet the demands of existing and future customers in safe and efficient manner. 100 undeserved households will see improved service, while the system as a whole will be better equipped to provide a safe and reliable supply of potable water in the future.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Existing mains (Asbestos Cement) and service lines (P.E.) to be replaced are deteriorated and subject to frequent breaks and leaks. Oldest portion of the meter settings will be replaced with new boxes/lids, setters (with check valve), and AMR meters.

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
