Project Title:
KCWSD - Quicksand Water Line Extension Project

Project Description:
This project will construct approximately 114,000 feet of potable water lines in rural Knott County Kentucky. The area to be served is in the Quicksand area of rural Knott County. There are approximately 170 potential new water customers in this are that currently do not have adequate drinking water sources and of which many are contaminated with metals such as iron, or bacteria such as fecal coliform from failed or failing septic systems. The District currently does not have the resources to complete this project without Federal financial assistance.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
