Project Title:
City of Worthington Valve and Meter Replacement

Project Description:
To improve service to all residents on the City of Worthington Water System, new metering is needed. This will improve the accuracy of reading meters as well as allow those meters to be read remotely rather than manually. This removes all chance of human error and saves staff time. The second part of this project will be to remove and replace all valves in the system with like-sized valves. Many of the current valves have seized up with years of use. When a leak needs to be repaired, as much as half the system may need to be shut down while work is being done. With new valves, the leak can be isolated to a much smaller portion of the system.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The valve and meter infrastructure of the Worthington system has aged without replacement for a number of years. New meter technology and working valves will greatly increase the efficiency of the Worthington system and decrease any hardship for the residents it serves.

Maintain current meters and manually read.  Valves can be replaced or added as work is done on the system.  This may mean increased downtime in areas being worked on but the end result would likely justify the up-front inconvienience.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
