Project Title:
Humes Ridge Water Tank Replacement

Project Description:
The City of Williamstown is planning to construct a new 750,000 gallon elevated water storage tank on Humes Ridge to replace the existing 200,000 gallon elevated tank. The proposed tank will be constructed on property currently owned by the City located just east of the existing tank site.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The existing 200,000 gallon elevated tank on Humes Ridge was originally constructed in 1974. The tank has developed serious rusting issues on the support columns that threaten the structural integrity of the tank. After a tank inspection, the City decided that it was not in their best interest to invest more money in a tank that was nearing 50 years old. If a new 750,000 gallon tank is constructed, the City will be able to reduce costs by running only one shift at the WTP to meet average daily demands in the water system.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
