Project Title:
Caldwell County WD - Leak Detection Meter Installation Project

Project Description:
This project will install approximately 60 leak detection meters throughout the district. These meters will be read electronically and will be monitored each morning to help determine which areas in the system the water loss is coming from. The system will potentially install the meters themselves and are looking at possible CDBG funding through a self help grant along with an SRF Fund F Loan.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
When locating leaks currently, the district has to spend costly time driving the system and turning valves to locate leaks. The system does not have the manpower to spend the amount of time locating leaks as they are having to do. This work flow is not efficient and causes the O & M cost to be very high. Installing leak detection meters throughout the system would tell them the areas they need to focus on to repair leaks and not spend unnecessary hours driving the entire system to find the leaks. The project would allow the system to greatly reduce water loss and prevent customer service interruptions.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
