Project Title:
BCWD New Ore Mines Water Tank Project

Project Description:
The Bath County Water District proposes the construction of a new 423,000-gallon ground storage water tank adjacent to the existing Ore Mines Tank site. This project will significantly enhance the district’s overall water storage capacity, improve system reliability, and ensure sufficient water supply and pressure for both current and future customer demand within the service area. In addition to the new tank, the project will include installation of necessary piping to connect the new tank to the existing tank and water system infrastructure, site fencing for security, telemetry upgrades to enable remote monitoring and control, and acquisition of the property for the tank site. The tank will be constructed using modern materials and engineering practices to ensure long-term durability, operational efficiency, and compliance with state and federal regulatory standards.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
This project promotes public health and supports compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act by addressing a critical storage deficiency identified by the Kentucky Public Service Commission. The PSC's periodic inspection report noted that the Bath County Water District is currently 150,000 gallons short of the required water supply storage based on system usage. By constructing a new 423,000-gallon ground storage tank, the district will not only eliminate this deficit but also improve system reliability, ensure consistent water pressure, and enhance fire protection capabilities, all of which are essential to protecting public health and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
