Project Title:
City of New Haven I and I Sewer Rehab. Phase II

Project Description:
The proposed project includes additional rehabilitation developed from prioritized review of aging and inadequate sewer lines with new pvc lines. Lines with high incidence of breaks and high rates of infiltration and inflow were identified through visual inspection, camera inspection, smoke testing, and flow monitoring to determine problematic areas. Areas targeted for repair in this project include approx. 600 l.f. of 8" line around the railroad and Railway Museum, which has a problematic flow design with several turns; approx. 1,400 l.f. of aging line along Hwy. 52; and approx. 1,300 l.f. of line along Maxey Court, which is a higher density residential section. Together with manhole replacement and new service line connections, this project will help eliminate the primary problem areas in the City's collection system. Similar repairs in the last five years have yielded very positive results in flow reduction and improved treatment.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
