Project Title:
Stanton SSES and Sewer Rehab

Project Description:
The project will address the severe infiltration and inflow problem the City of Stanton is experiencing. The City has done some work to alleviate the problem but there is so much to be done. An SSES was performed several years ago. It is proposed to update the study and then proceed to eliminate the worst areas as identified, through whatever manner of sewer rehabilitation would be appropriate. The City is a member of the Red River Wastewater Authority. Unlike a City-owned wastewater treatment plant, the City is billed for all flow, including I/IO during wet weather. This places a huge burden on the City to pay widely fluctuating bills. Needless to say it is also places an unnecessary burden on the newly renovated Red River Wastewater Treatment Plant, robbing it of excess capacity. Finally, the elimination of overflows would greatly enhance the environment in the Stanton area. The City of Stanton has 1,148 sewer customers at this time. They will directly benefit from this project. It must be pointed out that they surrounding area would also benefit from the elimination and/or reduction of sewage overflows.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The City of Stanton needs improved sewer service in order to protect the environment, attract economic developement, and generally relieve strain on the existing system.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
