Project Title:
Wendell H. Ford Airport Subdivisions Sewer System

Project Description:
Installation of approximately 37,280 LF of force main ranging in size from 6" to 1 1/4" diameter, one duplex pump station and 210 individual residential grinder pump units to serve 210 households in the two subdivisions adjacent to the Airport located northeast of KY 15 in Perry County and along KY 28 from the KY 28/15 intersection to the line just east of Haddock's Fork. . These subdivisions are located on the opposite side of KY 15 from the Coal Fields Industrial Park (CFIP) and approximately 11 miles northwest of the City of Hazard. The wastewater flow from these subdivisions will be pumped to an existing pump station currently serving the CFIP and ultimately will be pumped to the new (2014) Chavies WWTP for treatment before discharge. This existing pump station will be rehabilitated and would then pump through an existing force main to a second pump station at the KY 15/28 intersection. This pump station would also be rehabilitated and then pump southeast through a FM to connect to the FM just east of Haddock's Fork. Ultimately this flow will go to the new (2014) Chavies WWTP for treatment before discharge.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
This project will provide adequate wastewater treatment for wastewater from approximately 210 households with aging septic systems in the western Perry County area. This will eliminate septic/on-site systems that are in a densely populated area with poor soil drainage characteristics. The project will also improve the environment in this section of the county.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
