I/I Program

Project Description:
This project will address Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) reduction requirements of the OCEA’s Agreed Order with the KY Division of Water. The project will fund I&I reduction in the Ash Avenue and Country Village service areas. The I & I identification will include smoke testing, CIP lining, point repairs, sewer line replacement, and manhole lining. There are 21 streets that will be included in this I & I project to correct deficiencies in the collections system that were identified by CCTV studies and PACP reports.This I & I project will serve the Ash Avenue and Country Village areas, which serves approximately 1,159 customers. PROPOSED SCOPE FOR RESIDUAL FUNDS If any residual funds are left after completing the Ash Avenue and Country Village collection rehab, collection rehab for I & I correction will be completed for Willow Creek as the priority and then Orchard Grass as funds are available.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The project will reduce I/I and treatment cost. This project will also help the Oldham County Environmental Authority to achieve compliance with an Agreed Order. The scope of this project will achieve compliance by accomplishing tasks 4 and 5 of the Agreed Order. Those task are: #4 Country Village Cleaning and Lining Project and #5 Ash Avenue Collections I & I Reduction. The estimated I & I reduction is 498,393 MGD for this project. This project is limited to the Oldham County Envrironmental Authority, but spans separate noncontiguous systems within OCEA.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

This project will address Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) reduction requirements of the OCEA’s Agreed Order with the KY Division of Water. The project will fund I&I reduction in the Covered Bridge and Ash Avenue service areas along with areas of high priority throughout the OCEA service area. By building greater capacity for these problem areas and reducing the overall I&I in the area, this project will assist in establishing the restoration of riparial buffers, floodplains, wetlands or other natural features within this section of the Oldham County Environmental Authority's service area.

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
