Project Title:
Highway 68 North Sewer Service Project

Project Description:
This project involves the installation of a 100 GPM duplex wastewater pumping station and about 6,500 linear feet of 4-inch PVC force main. The pump station will be installed on the north side of the Cumberland Parkway to provide future sewer service to customers in this part of the Edmonton sewer service area that currently do not have access to public sewers. the force main will be installed from the proposed pump stations site south and connect to the existing 8-inch gravity sewer near Sunset Street and Greenburg Street. A portion of the force main will be required to be installed in a bore across the Cumberland Parkway in an 12-inch steel casing pipe.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Currently there is no existing public sewer service to this part of the Edmonton service area. Installation of these facilities will allow for anticipated development.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
