Project Title:
Berea -Brushy Fork Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project

Project Description:
Investigations and rehabilitation of existing gravity sanitary sewers in the Brushy Fork sewershed in Berea, KY. Rehabilitation techniques are expected to include pipe lining, manhole replacement, manhole rehabilitation, point repairs, and sewer pipe replacement.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Existing clay pipes in the area are in failing condition, leading to excessive infiltration and inflow as well as significant maintenance requirements. The excessive flows resulting from I&I result in sanitary sewer overflows, increased treatment costs, and treatment plant capacity issues.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Project will include smoke testing to identify downspouts and other stormwater sources connected to the sanitary sewers. Listed cost is anticipated cost to redirect downspout discharges.

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
