Project Title:
Beattyville Sewer Rehabilitation Project

Project Description:
Create a working map of the sewer system suitable for a flow study and for use during construction. Perform flow monitoring at 3 to 5 key locations in the sewer system to determine where I/I is excessive. Inspect manholes in the area to be rehabilitated. Televise and smoke test the sewers which are found to have excessive I/I and construct repairs to the sewers and manholes. Use the smoke testing results to communicate to private property owners the needs to correct inflow sources such as roof downspouts connected to the sewer and missing clean-out caps. Project will: 1. Perform Flow monitoring in 3-5 key locations 2. Inspect manholes 3. Televise and smoke test sewers 4. Locate, uncover and raise buried manhole castings 5. All other repairs as deemed necessary as testing is performed 6. Document repairs and provide and up to date map for the City All items will be based upon budget/funding and may be phased if needed.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The average flow to the wastewater treatment plant frequently exceeds its capacity of 300,000 GPD. This results in the oxidation ditch mixed liquor being partially washed out of the plant with the consequences of KPDES permit violations. Rehabilitation of the sewers will improve KPDES permit compliance and extend the operating life of the sewer system.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
