Project Title:
Harrods Creek Interceptor (Phase I & II), Pump Station, and Force Main Project

Project Description:
The Harrods Creek Interceptor, pump station, and force main project will allow the five wastewater treatment plants (wwtps) in the Prospect Ky area to be taken out of operation and the wastewater flow to be diverted to an existing MSD regional WWTP – Hite Creek WWTP. The five Prospect wwtps to be eliminated are the Hunting Creek North, Hunting Creek South, Timberlake, Shadow Wood and Ken Carla wwtps. Both phases of the interceptor project would construct approximately 9,700 linear feet of 24 to 36 inch diameter pipe. A force main and a pump station will need to be constructed in conjunction with this project. The Hite Creek WWTP must be expanded to accommodate the existing and project flows from this area. In addition, the Deep Creek and deep trail pump stations could also be eliminated and connected directly to the Harrods Creek interceptor. This project is part of the integrated overflow abatement plan (ioap) in response to msd’s consent decree with the us EPA and the Kentucky eppc.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
