Project Title:
East Park Site B Wastewater Improvements to GJSA Wastewater Treat

Project Description:
This project proposes to extend sewer service from the GJSA Treatment Plant located at 211 Wurts Road in Wurtland KY (Lat: 38.552652, Long: -82.781031) to East Park Site B (Lat: 38.402237, Long: -82.802839) to provide expanded sanitary sewer service for future growth including that of the Braidy Industries aluminum mill and its sister company Veloxint. There will also be upgraded service for both FIVCO Area Development District and NECCO, the only current commercial properties on the Eastpark site. This service will allow room for the park to grow and accommodate future businesses in addition to these. This will be done via an approximately 13-mile-long dual force main consisting of a 6” and 10” line running adjacent in the same trench on the state right of way of KY-67. These will be tied into a new pump station near the intersection of KY-67 and Technology Drive with a 1400 GPM capacity. A further portion of this project will be to improve capacity at the GJSA plant including adjustments to the headworks, pipe yard, and aeration system as well as improving flow equalization and treatment efficiency.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
By constructing this wastewater line along KY67 will allow EastPark's Site B to have adequate sewer for the upcoming Braidy Industries Plant which will employ 500 plus workers and the line will also provide sanitary sewer to an unserved area of eastern Greenup County and EastPark's Site C; this project will allow for future development of industrial, commercial, and residential sites.

The GJSA regional plant currently treats flows from the Cities of Greenup and Wurtland, as well as the Boyd-Greenup Riverport. Additional customers, industrial and domestic, are needed to serve the Industrial Parkway corridor. As a result, an expanded collection system and WWTP upgrades is a top priority.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
