Project Title:
South Shore: Upgrade McKell Lift Station

Project Description:
This project will rehab and upgrade 1 lift station in the City of South Shore's collection system. Project will include new pumps, new control boxes and new wet well. Pump stations 5 & 6 flow into pump stations 4 which is located on McKell school property. Lift station 4 was installed in 1992 and is 20+ years. Replacement will include demolition and replacement. The new pumps will be submersible pumps that are more energy efficient. The new pumps will be VFD.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The new pumps will help save on energy consumption and the enlarged wet wells will help to prevent overflows at the WWTP.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
