Project Title:
Silverlake Pump Station Replacement

Project Description:
The project includes modification and replacement of existing pump stations and installation of a sanitary sewer force main to replace aging and undersized infrastructure. Modifications and replacement of the pump stations will also provide protection to equipment from flooding and increase reliability. The following will be included in the project scope: 1. Install a new pump station to replace the existing Silverlake Pump Station to increase capacity in the system. Additional improvements may include: addressing odor concerns at the existing Silverlake Pump Station, security fencing, power supply upgrades, building for housing controls, and landscaping improvements. 2. Construction of a new gravity sewer line from the existing Silverlake Pump Station location to the proposed location on the Lakeview Springs Golf Course. 3. Construct a new 12-inch diameter force main from the proposed Silverlake Pump Station to the discharge manhole to ensure adequate system capacity. 4. Construct a new 10-inch force main from the current Raven Crest discharge manhole to the existing Silverlake force main to plan for a future connection. This will avoid having flows from Raven Crest Pump Station be pumped by both Raven Crest and Silverlake Pump Stations in the future once the connection is made. Additional upgrades will be required at Raven Crest Pump Station prior to connection. The existing force main is 10” and then switches to 8” in the middle of line. The existing pump station capacity is approximately 910 GPM. The proposed pump station capacity is 1,020 GPM.

Replace the existing Silverlake Pump Station on the existing site. This option is not feasible due to property owner issues and the inability to obtain additional easements required to construct a new pump station at this location.

Alternate B:

Do not make any upgrades. This option will require aging and undersized infrastructure to remain in service. Requiring increased O&M costs, additional electricity and increase risk of sanitary sewer overflows.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy Efficiency:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:

The existing pumps will be replaced with premium efficiency motors, which will reduce power consumption at the pump station. The pumps will be ran on VFD's in order to operate the pumps more efficiently. Additionally (potentially) relocating the pump station to a higher elevation will reduce the pumping of inflow during flooding.

Environmentally Innovative Projects:

Environmentally innovative projects include those that demonstrate new and/or innovative approaches to delivering services or managing water resources in a more sustainable way. Examples include:
