Project Title:
Olive Hill: Smokey Valley Sewer Line Extension

Project Description:
Project to extend service to the Smokey Valley area of Olive Hill 1.9 miles north of the city. The service will be a combination of 8 inch gravity feed and one pump station with a 6 inch line. Currently the project picks up one business to maintain jobs for 26 people (representing $231,000 income in the community), another business not threatened by the lack of sewer service, and 13 unserved households just beyond the existing sewer line which ends at the City limits. Estimated cost $525.000

The EPPC has ordered this restaurant at Smokey Valley to shut down in March, 2014 if this project is not built.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
