Project Title:
Carrollton Utilities Industrial Customer Expansion (ICE)

Project Description:
The Carrollton Utilities Industrial Customer Expansion, ICE for short, will serve a major expansion by an existing sewer customer and a new industry moving into the U.S. 42 corridor. The request for assistance will serve expanding industrial customers with new and improved facilities as well as extend sanitary sewers into unserved areas to serve new commercial customers. The proposed project involves the upgrade of three existing sewer pumping station and installation of 5,700 linear feet of 4-inch force main sewer line. The project is broken into 4 distinct areas: the first area is the Nucor Pump Station Expansion. This phase of the project is to accommodate the sanitary sewer flows being generated by the new Picklin/Galavanized Line process at Nucor Steele. The second phase of the project is the Ghent Pump Station Upgrade. This phase will up size the storage capacity and pumping capacity of the station to handle the increase in sanitary sewer flows. The third phase of the project consists of the U.S. 42/Markland Dam Sanitary Sewer Extension. The fourth phase of the project will be J. Louden Road Sanitary Sewer Pump Station. This phase of the project will provide for added storage capacity and increased pumping capacity.

This project will provide much needed capacity in existing pump stations and provided sanitary sewers to unserved area around Markland Dam.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:

CU will replace the older pumps in the Nucor station with new bigger, more efficient pumps. CU will install the OmniSite SCADA system on the new pumps to track usage, electric uses, and alarms. This system has shown its worth though out our system.
