Project Title:
Sewer Project #3 (MH 2-3 to 2-8, plus 2-7A to 2-167)

Project Description:
Install new 18" PVC Sewer Main along a creek flowing into the new East Fork Clark's River Interceptor from MH 2-3 to MH 2-8. Re-route the lines and replace 6 brick manholes with reinforced concrete manholes. Approximately 1,600 feet of VCP sewer main to be replaced.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

This sewer line is a 12" VCP pipe system that runs along a creek bed. The rehab replaces the VCP pipe with PVC pipe and moves the alignment at least 50-ft from the creek bed. There are also 6 brick manholes that will be replaced with reinforce concrete manholes with gasketed joints and in some cases sealed lids.

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy Efficiency:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:

The Murray Wastewater Facility Plan, 2010 - 2030, issued DEC. 2011, by GRW Engineers.
Murray City Ordinance No. 2015-1666, passed May 14, 2015 increased sewer rates 10% every six months for six consecutive six month periods ending JAN. 2018. Amended Ordinance 2016-1700, passed  April 28, 2016.
Murray's budget for FY2018 capital projects includes: $550,000 for sewer projects design, and proposed $350,000 for sewer project #3 construction for FY2019 budget.
