Project Title:
Central Boone County Master Sewer Plan - Phase II

Project Description:
Extend sanitary sewer service to western Central Boone County Master Sewer Plan to meet Consent Decree milestones by eliminating SSOs and facilitate growth prioritized by Boone County. Phase II - 3 Pump Stations/Screening and 1,900 LF of FM

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The purpose is to eliminate SSOs and facilitate growth.

Alternate A:

Note: If project includes the construction of a new treatment plant or upgrade to existing plant, please explain regionalization options here.

Under Alternative 1, the Bullittsville Pump Station would continue to pump to the Taylorsport Pump Station. A new Bullittsville Pump Station with firm capacity of 7.0 MGD would be constructed, and the existing 12-inch diameter force main would be replaced with a 20-inch force main. The Taylorsport Pump Station would be upsized from its current firm capacity of 9.0 MGD to a firm capacity of 13.25 MGD and a 550,000-gallon equalization storage tank would be constructed. The estimated cost of Alt 1 is $71.5M

Alternate B:

Alternative 2 would reroute all flow from the Bullittsville Pump Station to the Western Regional Conveyance Tunnel via a new tunnel sewer, which would connect into the existing Western Regional Conveyance Tunnel. A tunnel entrance shaft west of the Bullittsville Pump Station and a sewer redirecting the flow from Bullittsville Pump Station would be constructed. A second shaft would be required near the tunnel terminus for retrieval of the tunneling equipment. The estimated cost of Alternative 2 is $110.7 mil

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
