Project Title:
City of Scottsville - Inflow and Infiltration Project, Phase I

Project Description:
The City has already identified approximately 3500 LF of pipe within the collection system that is currently experiencing inflow and infiltration (I/I) issues and includes an identified SSO. These segments will be further inspected and repaired/replaced as part of the project. The project will also include an SSES and video inspection of yet to be identified problem areas in the city's downtown area as well as slip lining and/or line replacement of aged sewer lines and line rehabilitation where I/I and SSO issues are determined as a result of the SSES and video inspection. Areas of concentration will be along major interceptors and suspected locations as analyzed by flow data, video inspection, existing smoke testing, and engineering expertise.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The project will identify sources of wet weather induced flows in order to eliminate existing sanitary sewer overflows and possible underground leaks in the sewer system, reduce the inflow and infiltration that is being transported and treated and prevent the wastewater treatment plant from being out of compliance with it's KPDES permit. The plant experiences I/I inflow during rain events and this project will allow the WWTP to treat less rain/storm water. An existing SSO has been identified within the 3500 LF of mapped line.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
