Project Title:
City of Scottsville - Pump Station Replacement Project

Project Description:
Replace four existing out-of-date and dangerous pump stations at Cottage Drive, Colonial Manor, Woodland Heights and Highway 98. Existing stations will be replaced with precast duplex submersible pump stations with above grade controls.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Eliminate four existing Cantex style pump stations that were originally constructed in the 1970s. These stations are a safety hazard for maintenance personnel as they require operators to physically enter below ground confined space vaults to access pumps, valves and electrical components. Safety hazards include potential drowning, electrocution and/or explosion. New pump stations will improve efficiency and safety, reduce inflow and infiltration at the existing stations and provide additional flow capacity to the collection system without adding new pump stations.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
