Project Title:
Webster County Water District Water Tank Maintenance/ Mixing System

Project Description:
This project proposes work on WCWD’s two 300,000 gallon water tanks, the last in the system that have not been upgraded. The two tanks serve a total of about seventy-five percent WCWD's customers. They also serve three emergency interconnect customers; Henderson County Water District, Union County Water District, and Crittenden/Livingston County Water District. These two tanks also supply water to the City of Dixon and the City of Clay. Last summer they provided water to Union County on two separate occasions for several days. Water has also been sent through this connection one time this year. The project proposes to retro-fit both tanks with tide flex red ball mixing systems. These mixing systems will eliminate dead zones in storage tanks, introduce water with a jet velocity, reduce water age, create a thorough mixing of stored water and maintain a homogeneous mix of stored water, minimize detention time, achieve good mixing of stored product, alter mixing time vs. fill time, avoid or correct inlet configurations (tangential inlets, deflectors). They are passive, and thus require no additional power, and will also eliminate a lot of power consumption by greatly reducing flushing of old aged water. At the same time this project will inspect, paint and complete any necessary maintenance necessary to remain in compliance while the tanks are off line.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
This project will ensure the customers of Webster County Water District have adequate water pressure, access to the best quality drinking water and that the system has adequate water storage. This project is also being completed to comply with any issues the system might have with Disinfection By-Products in anticipation of the Phase 2 Permit limits going into place.

Water Efficiency:
