Project Title:
One Million Gallon Valley Oak Industrial Park Prestressed Concrete Water Storage Tank and 16-Inch Transmission Main

Project Description:
Construction of a new one million gallon prestressed concrete water storage tank at the Valley Oak Industrial Park. In addition, approximately 12,500 linear feet (LF) of new 16-inch transmission main will be constructed to the Valley Oak Booster Pump Station (BPS), and approximately 2,000 LF of new 12-inch transmission main to the tank site will be constructed. Other items included in the work are pump, motor, and electrical upgrades at the Valley Oak BPS, installation of a new electrically operated butterfly valve at the Sugar Hill Storage Tank, a new tank access road, and all site work and necessary appurtenances for a complete project. The proposed new tank will be protected by a security fence and video surveillance.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Demand in the Valley Oak Industrial Park and at existing wholesale customer master meters has increased in the east side of the existing Somerset water distribution system to the point where the current tank storage capacity of 500,000 gallons is no longer adequate. The addition of 1 million gallons of storage capacity along with the transmission main improvements and pump station upgrades will provide the ability to meet current demands with additional capacity for anticipated expansion in the area served by this project.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
