Project Title:
12" New Haven Road Water Main Replacement

Project Description:
Install 18,000 feet of 12" water main along US 31E, New Haven Road.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
There are currently over 3 breaks year along the existing 12" water main along US31E, New Haven Road. The existing line has issue of being laid on rock and the pipe has proven to be very brittle. These breaks are causing boil water advisories and loss of water service to wholesale customers of LaRue County Water District, the City of New Haven, in addition to City of Bardstown customers. These constant breaks are major contributors to our water loss each year. This project improves the City's resiliency in the system by lowering risk of large service outage and keeping businesses, industry and schools in water.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Bardstown has been  painting all water storage tanks when paint cohesion is nearing end of life.  The oldest part of Bardstown's water system is downtown.  The City has broken the town into 12 segments and has been replacing small galvanized and cast iron lines with larger pvc lines and adding fire protections.  Bardstown is finishing Phase 3.
