Project Title:
City of South Shore Water System Improvement Project

Project Description:
The City of South Shore is requesting $878,000 to complete various system improvements throughout the distribution system. The project includes an extension of 10,642 linear feet of 4-inch PVC waterline along Lower White Oak and Flat Hollow Roads that will serve approximately 40 residents currently utilizing cisterns and underperforming wells. Additionally, a new booster pump station with variable frequency drives and telemetry will be installed for the Maloneton tank to improve hydraulics. Fencing and telemetry will be will be installed at the Maloneton, Fullerton, and Windy Hills water storage tanks and fencing will also be installed at the Morton Hill tank providing for improved operations, reliability, and security.

This project will extend service to currently unserved populations, improve water quality in the system, and improve operations by installing telemetry.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

This project will install telemetry in two of the City's water tanks in order to improve operations and sufficiently monitor water tank levels.
