Project Title:
South Shore: WTP Upgrade

Project Description:
Project for the rehab and upgrade of the Clearwell to address deterioration problems. A new Clearwell requires reconfiguring the existing water treatment plant pipes to accommodate the new Clearwell. Upgrade of the monitoring and control systems is also needed for proper operation of the current plant. Estimated cost is $500,000

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The current clearwell is constructed with concrete blocks, appears to leak and is at the end of its useful life. When the clearwell level is low, there is a potential for contaminated surface water to enter the clearwell. The current water treatment plant design has only a concrete block baffle separating treated water from the untreated water. Potential mixing of treated and untreated water is problematic and a potential public health threat. The water treatment plant monitoring and controls are inadequate for proper operation of the plant.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
