Project Title:
Ashland: Debord Hill Water Tank Upgrade

Project Description:
Project to install tank mixers and sprayers for removal of TTHM, a disinfectant byproduct. After testing their High Knob tank the City of Ashland will use a similar system in their Debord Hill tank for removal of TTHM. This uses an atomizing fountain with BETE spray nozzles made specifically for stripping volatile organic compounds. A blower will also be added to force air changes to make the removal process more effective. This will be a modified version of their test rig which has been running for 4 years at another tank. While the tank is under maintenance for this installation, this tank would be re-coated as it would save cost and service disruptions at a later date.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
Removal of total trihalomethanes is required by EPA.

This is the most direct approach to remove TTHM at this location.

Alternate B:

Continue weekly monitoring of chlorine is already occurring at Eastpark, which is the only area in which we boost chlorine. The level of chlorine is adjusted to ensure as low as possible chlorine residuals are kept while still maintaining compliance with the minimum requirements. The city has also purchased a number of auto flushers to install to maintain chlorine residuals more through flushing than through boosting. The estimate date of installation of 4 auto-flushers (2 for Eastpark Area, 1 for Johnsons

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
