Project Title:
Hazel Green Wastewater Collection System PH 2

Project Description:
Phase 2 of the WCSD collection system will connect the Hazel Green community into the wastewater treatment plant located at Helechawa on HW 191 close to the Mountain Parkway. There will be a force mail along 191 from the plant to the community of Hazel Green. Hazel Green will have a gravity sewer system installed, ending at a pump station. This pump station will be tied to the force nail leading to the wastewater treatment plant. Others served includes the Red River Elementary school and the Hazel Green Academy campus.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The two package treatment plants are very costly to maintain and operate and are failing. The residence/businesses utilize septic tanks and/or straight pipes. Through the proposed project, the Sanitation District will be providing a safe and reliable alternative to treating wastewater.

Install non-traditional systems in the area. This alternative will not work for the businesses, as these are for residential use only and it soesn't allow for any expansion.

Alternate B:

Install a WWTP, but since the Red River is classified as a Wild and Scenic River the discharge limits would be to stringent to provide cost effective treatment prior to discharge.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
