Project Title:
Centertown Liftstation Rebuild Project

Project Description:
This project consists of the renovation of two existing lift stations in the City of Centertown: Mill Street and KY 85 South. The Mill Street lift station has severe I&I coming in due to a crack in the upstream manhole (that will be repaired by this project to rectify the I&I there), as well as pumps that are in need of replacement and interior piping that is in need of blasting and painting. Also, the drain from the existing valve vault does not properly allow water to drain. Removing the rusted flap valve and replacing it with a duckbill-type valves should alleviate the problem. The KY 85 South lift station also has I&I due to a crack in the wet well, as well as pumps and controls that are in need of replacement. In addition, the lift station was designed without a valve vault, making it difficult for maintenance personnel to enter the wet well and work due to space restrictions. The construction of a new valve vault and associated piping and valves would allow for easier access to equipment and maintenance of the facility.

Rebuilding these liftstations will reduce I&I as well as replace cracked liftstations that have the potential to leak untreated sewage

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
