Project Title:
Hartford Sewer Rehabilitation Project - Phase II

Project Description:
The City of Hartford is proposing a continuation its 2008 Phase I Hartford Sewer Rehabilitation Project. The estimated cost associated with Phase II of the Hartford Sewer Rehabilitation Project totals $2.1 million; and consists of the following: -Replacement of approximately 10,800 linear feet of eight and ten-inch sewer lines. -Rehabilitation of approximately 3,150 linear feet of eight and ten-inch sewer lines. -Replacement of 1,500 linear feet of six-inch private service lines. -Replacement/Installation of 85 man-hole covers. The City of Hartford serves approximately 1,315 residential and commercial customers . The city is facing the following problems to its sewer system: - Severe inflow and infiltration (I & I) - Inefficient manhole covers that results in the seepage of raw sewage -Increasing costs due to failing infrastructure and the cost of excessive water sent for treatment The City of Hartford proposes this project to: -Reduce I & I -Give the city the ability to keep sewer rates affordable -Reduce maintenance of sewer lines -Reduce operating costs

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
