Project Title:
Kuttawa - US 62 & WWTP Influent Lift Station Improvements

Project Description:
The City of Kuttawa is currently under an EPA Agreed Order for violations related to sanitary sewer system overflows and pollutant removal at their wastewater treatment plant due to excessive levels of infiltration and inflow within their collection system. While the City is focusing efforts on removing I/I from their collection system, additional system improvements are necessary for proper containment and growth to serve the growing sewered areas in the City's planning area. This project includes improvements at 2 existing lift stations, which are in need of capacity upgrades to handle existing and proposed developments in the western portions of the planning area. In addition, the WWTP influent station is experiencing age/deterioration of the piping systems and structure, and would benefit greatly from the addition of a back up power source. The project will improve the U.S. Highway 62 and WWTP Influent lift stations.

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
I/I has been an issue in the system, and overflows have occurred at the WWTP due to inadequate pumping capacities. In addition, the metal components inside the wet well need to be addressed prior to failure occurrences. Improvements to these lift stations is strongly needed to comply with current EPA sanctions and current/projected wastewater demands.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
