Project Title:
City of Eddyville - Wastewater System Evaluation and Rehabilitation

Project Description:
This proposed project would focus on the collection system bordered by U.S. Hwy 62, Fairview Ave., Sycamore Ave., and Chestnut Ave. The planning phase of this project would continue to build upon the efforts of a Phase I Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study (SSES) completed by the City in 2011. This Phase II SSES will include, inspecting approximately 75 manholes, smoke testing of 21,000-l.f. of 8" gravity sewers, performing closed circuit t.v. inspection and cleaning of 16,500-l.f. of 8" gravity sewers, installing 3 flow meters to help identify locations of inflow and infiltration, and preparation of a report identifying the areas in the Phase II study area where rehabilitation needs to be focused. Following/during completion of the Phase II SSES work, the city can actively address known minor defects areas, and begin the rehabilitation recommended in the Phase I SSES. Based on this estimate, it appears that the project could rehabilitate the Mulberry Lift Station, 70 manholes, 26% of the Phase I study area gravity sewers, and separate some isolated regions where combined sewer networks have been identified during the initial SSES work. For clarification: 1) Phase I was SSES or a sanitary sewer evaluation study, only. No rehab was completed. The Phase II portion of the project is SSES. The rest is rehab of the deteriorated sewers identified in the Phase I SSES and the Mulberry Lift Station

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. this project will remove combined sewers from the Eddyville system. These combined sewers include down spout feeds to the main lines.

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

The City will be installing flow monitors for the duration of the study to assess the amount of I & I in the project area. The City is proposing to use energy efficient motors in the rehabilitation of the Mulberry Lift Station. The city is expected to rehab approximately 7,660' of gravity sewer line and 70 manholes. This should reduce the overall I&I in the system by a significant amount.

Environmentally Innovative Projects:

Environmentally innovative projects include those that demonstrate new and/or innovative approaches to delivering services or managing water resources in a more sustainable way. Examples include:
