Project Title:
Greenup: Rehab Or Replacement of Collection System

Project Description:
The proposed project includes the rehabilitation of older wastewater infrastructure serving the City of Greenup, Kentucky. System tests have indicated an excessive amount of inflow and infiltration of groundwater to the existing sewage collection system. The rehab will include the following: 1. Perry Street - Install new 18" - 30" storm sewer to separate storm water from the existing sanitary sewer drainage structures and replace/rehabilitate existing clay sanitary sewer lines and manholes. 2. Washington Street - Upgrade sewer main by replacing existing 6" clay pipe with new 10" PVC. 3. Seaton Avenue - Slipline existing sewer line and manhole rehabilitation (lining).

Need For Project: Briefly describe how this project promotes public health or achieves and/or maintains compliance with the Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act:
The elimination of inflow and infiltration will diminish the power demand on behalf of the domestic treatment facility, hence reducing the overall carbon footprint of the area. In addition, small xeric landscape buffers are proposed throughout the project area, thereby decreasing the need for irrigation while mitigating the water quality of the contributing areas.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. On the local scale, green infrastructure consists of site and neighborhood-specific practices, such as:

Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:

Energy efficiency is the use of improved technologies and practices to reduce the energy consumption of water projects, use energy in a more efficient way, and/or produce/utilize renewable energy. Examples include:
