Project Title:
Rehab Prestonsburg's Old Wastewater Treatment Plant

Project Description:
This project proposes to replace and upgrade existing processing facilities which are either at the end of their life or operationally inefficient. The existing sludge belt press is at the end of its production life cycle and needs to be replaced. PCUC proposes to replace with a much smaller footprint centrifuge resulting in dewatering performance of up to 10% less sludge due to high dry-matter content in the dewatered sludge – thus high savings potential, polymer savings up to 20%, up to 15% more capacity, additional energy savings of up to 20%, as well as a fraction of the labor and power. The project also proposes to retrofit the original clarifier basins for post equalization which will increase the operational efficiency and the effluent capabilities for regulatory compliance of the WWTP.

Green Infrastructure:

Green stormwater infrastructure includes a wide array of practices at multiple scales that manage wet weather and that maintains and restores natural hydrology by infiltrating, evapotranspiring and harvesting and using stormwater. On a regional scale, green infrastructure is the preservation and restoration of natural landscape features, such as forests, floodplains, and wetlands, coupled with policies such as infill and redevelopment that reduce overall imperviousness in a watershed. Water Efficiency:

The use of improved technologies and practices to deliver equal or better services with less water. Water efficiency encompasses conservation and reuse efforts, as well as water loss reduction and prevention, to protect water resources for the future. Examples include:
